A 2-day course for young people taught by Danielle Perrett and Miriam Keogh |

Course details: The course is for young people (up to 21) with some experience of harp-playing – either pedal or lever harp. It is not suitable for absolute beginners. The course will start on with afternoon tea at Munnings tearoom in Lavenham and finish on Thursday evening with a harp party. There will be evening events on both Tuesday and Wednesday. The course is not residential, but a list of local accommodation will be provided on request. During the day on Wednesday and Thursday there will be sessions on technique, ensemble-playing, Pilates for harpists, and examination coaching/advice for those who would like it and have requested so on booking. |

Danielle Perrett has a firmly established career both as a soloist and as a chamber music player, and her solo recital career spans the globe. She is a distinguished teacher and has given workshops and masterclasses for World Harp Congresses and the Edinburgh International Harp Festival. As a qualified Pilates teacher she also teaches Pilates for musicians and harpists. Danielle has also devised the harp syllabuses for Trinity Guildhall exams, introducing an unprecedented syllabus for non-pedal harp. In connection with this she has also written the book ‘Technical Development for Harpists', consisting of short technical exercises to demonstrate technical development in practice and performance at all levels up to grade 8. Danielle holds CRB enhanced clearance, and is a qualified First Aider. |

Miriam Keogh Miriam Keogh studied the harp with Osian Ellis at the Royal Academy of Music, and subsequently with Renata Scheffel Stein. As a full time free lance harpist she has had wonderful opportunities to travel all over the world with the Philharmonia Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and many others, and has played in North and South America , Canada, Japan, and almost every major city in Europe. She has many private pupils and teaches at the Royal Academy of Music and a number of schools. She organises the Aldeburgh Harp Course and coaches for the National Children's Orchestra. To date she has three CD's on the market and 4 books published. She truly loves what she does and can't imagine doing anything else.

Booking: The course fee will be £100 for Clarsach Society members and £125 for non-members. This covers the afternoon tea on Tuesday, the evening events on Tuesday and Wednesday, all tuition, and lunch and supper on Wednesday and Thursday. Overnight accommodation if required should be arranged separately, but a list of local accommodation will be provided on request. Last year's course: This course was run for the first time last year (2009). The tutors were Danielle Perrett and Ellen Smith; Mike Parker taught a harp maintenance session; and there were 8 participants, on both lever and pedal harp, ranging from grade 1 to grade 8.
