Course details: A residential harp weekend for players of all ages and abilities, except absolute beginners. The course is intended to stimulate interest and enthusiasm for the non-pedal harp in a relaxed and informal atmosphere, although pedal harps are also welcome. There will be one group for the under-14's, taught by Mike Parker. All other course attendees will be divided into three groups, according to experience and each group will have teaching sessions with each of the other tutors. Note that some of the teaching will be by ear, with music provided afterwards. There will also be a ceilidh on the Saturday evening, plus recitals, and a talk on harp maintenance. Arrival is from 2 pm on the Friday, and departure is 4 pm on Sunday, following tea. A detailed timetable will be sent out to course participants. Harps for the weekend can be hired from Pilgrim Harps, but must be booked in advance direct with them. They can also be hired from the Clarsach Society when available. |

Location: Aylesford is the home of a community of Carmelite Friars. The Friars is three miles north-west of Maidstone on the river Medway. The buildings are a blend of medieval and modern architecture, set in spacious grounds. Single and twin rooms are available, although none are ensuite. All meals are served in the Pilgrims Hall, located in the main court. Lunch consists of three courses, and full English breakfast is available on Sunday morning. All teaching rooms are on the ground floor, below the residential accommodation. There is a non-residential course fee for anyone who would prefer to make their own arrangements for accommodation. |
